I've tried raising vessels before, but it seems I am doing something wrong. Often, I find I am instead sinking the material, and working against myself. Other times I find the stake I am working on pierces the vessel over time. Do you know of any resources that might be able to help me see what I am doing wrong?
@@peopleeps4756i think it might just be a square shaped piece of metal on the opposite side supporting what he's hammering. and the pattern just comes from not hammering the matte parts of the pattern.
This rhythm is called "san-san-nana-byoshi" in Japan, and it's a tradition to 'forcefully' have everyone clap along to it at the end of a company party👏
Curiously, I've been humming this rhythm for as long as I can remember and I've never heard of it from anyone other than myself. Maybe I heard it when I was a baby and it remained in my subconscious, I will never know.
When you see this it gives you some understanding why a hand made Chinese tea set from the 1850s was sold for 85.000€ last year here in Sweden, the cups had small dragons and flowers all worked out of the silver and the tea pot had some rose gold details. Just awesome craftsmanship❤ could watch stuff like this all day long.
should of sold for 200😭 good quality oriental antiques are very beautiful and normally pricey that’s why grandmas are so protective of their “fine china”
@Olivia-iv7xj No I meant euro the tea set was sold at an auction for 980.000kronor which was about 85.000€ when i wrote the comment, and the reason I used Euro was because most ppl have a clue what they are worth and not a Swedish Krona 😉
beautiful piece. if i'd have the money for that i'd prefer the prefinished version with the erratic strike pattern. show's more how much work actually goes into the cup :D
the rhythmic composition completely saved this video. If you left it raw, I would angrily scroll instantly. Instead, I stayed, and the rhythmic arrangement played a huge role in that. This guy knows what hes doing.
I have done a little bit of sheet working in brass and copper. I am deeply impressed by the skill here, especially getting the edge that perfectly even!
All i can hear from the rythem is the owner and his dog Nala "she stomp, she stomp, she do the Nala stomp" But other than that the piece is really amazing! Expecially that the end result had a checkered pattern to it!
In case you're wondering why it keeps jumping to dull finish and shiny when he hits it, he is annealing it every so often so as to avoid work hardening the metal and making it brittle. Ever bent a wire over and over until it snaps? Heating periodically prevents that

The raw natural hammered patterns looked soo much better! Fascinating process.
Squares is good too, cant choose one, think id buy both patterns if i had the choice
Idk, the checkerboard pattern seems so much more expert quality. I mean how do you do that???

I was wondering about the cadence of his hammering.

You can't get hot tea in this cup. Silver immediately taking high or low temperature through itself
I would have loved to see that ,I'm sure it was stunning
Sorry to be a bugger but do you mean kronor? Unless I just now woke up to discover that Sweden suddenly started using euro
@Olivia-iv7xj No I meant euro the tea set was sold at an auction for 980.000kronor which was about 85.000€ when i wrote the comment, and the reason I used Euro was because most ppl have a clue what they are worth and not a Swedish Krona 😉
